This past summer, Katherine took a class called “Steel-toe Bootcamp”, or stagecraft. One of the things she got to do for the very first time was sewing, and she loved it. So much so that she’s been talking about it ever since.
This year, for her “big” gift, CJ and I decided (well, ok, it was mostly CJ’s idea) to get her a sewing machine. Through a good amount of research, and with the help of my Mom, they picked out a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116.
And no, it didn’t even make it to within 2 weeks of Christmas before getting cracked open and used:
CJ and Katherine spent over an hour that first night setting it up, getting it threaded, and trying out a few stitches. CJ had never used a sewing machine before, so this was a real novelty for her. It didn’t take her long for her to get the sewing bug either.
I’m really wondering if I’m going to have to come up with a time-sharing schedule for these two. In more ways than one, these two are definitely cut from the same cloth.
