More Merry Moments from the Gilbert Household

It’s been quite a while – more than a year – since our last quote board compilation, but I hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.

***

Katherine: “I was creepy!”  (She just watched a video of herself with an anatomy set, laughing maniacally)

***

Lucy: “I wanted to be a germ because I could make a lot of people sick!”  (She was describing a version of tag they had played in gym class where some of the kids were “germs” and everyone else were the humans trying to avoid them)

***

Mark (quoting a TV show): “That was the year Bon Jovi sang ‘Living on a Prayer’”
Lucy: “Living on a Prairie?”

***

Lucy: “Some people just can’t get chins.”  (On drawing people)

***

Lucy: “Elmo returns to the Dark Side!”

***

(While discussing Norse mythology)
Lucy: “What do frost giants look like?”
Katherine: “Canadians”

***

Katherine left a series of papers around the house and around her school for people to find.  One side read, “Turn me over!”  The other side read “You just took orders from a piece of paper!”

This winter we’ve been bringing the girls up to speed on Star Trek.  We finished a selection of the episodes from the original “Star Trek” TV show, and then watched movies 1-4 and 6 (we didn’t think “Final Frontier” was worth re-watching).  In the last week we’ve started watching “Star Trek: The Next Generation”.  One of the first observations Lucy had was that there was a Klingon (Worf) on the Enterprise.  We had to explain that during this time, the Klingons were part of the Federation.  Katherine said “Yay, they aren’t enemies anymore.”  I agreed, but explained that the Federation still had plenty of enemies – “The Romulans, the Borg, the Cardassians…”  Katherine stopped me and said, “Wait, the Federation is at war with the Kardashians?”
